Congratulations to Jose Rizal Memorial State University and Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit!

The Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), through the leadership and expertise of our University President, Dr. Maria Rio Abdon Naguit, a distinguished marine biologist, has been honored with the Gawad Pasasalamat sa mga Kabalikat ng Pangisdaan at Yamang Tubig by the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR).

Awarded today, September 19, 2025, during the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Fish Conservation Week at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City, this recognition highlights JRMSU’s invaluable contributions to the advancement and sustainability of the fisheries sector.

Dr. Naguit’s passion and scholarship in marine biology have driven the university’s initiatives in fisheries research, conservation, and community engagement, solidifying JRMSU’s role as a true partner in stewarding our aquatic resources. Together with Dr. Rizza B. Bagalanon, Vice President for Research, Development and Extension, she proudly received this award on behalf of the entire JRMSU community.

This milestone reflects both the collective dedication of the university and the inspiring leadership of Dr. Naguit, whose vision continues to bring pride and honor to JRMSU.
