GAD Seminar-Workshop
The Gender and Development (GAD) office of Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Tampilisan initiated a seminar-workshop centered on the theme, “Nurturing Resilience: Psycho-Social Support Activities for Married and Cohabiting Students of JRMSU-Tampilisan in Celebration of National Women’s Month,” on March 24, 2025. The program is a crucial step to tailor policies that provide emotional, mental, and academic support.
Ms. Maurine Aime T. Quiboyen, the GAD Director, expressed strong enthusiasm for implementing the program in accordance with CHED Memorandum Order No. 1, series of 2015. She stated that the program aimed to tailor policies that support not only the academic life of students but also their married or parental life.
โThis activity is the first step for crafting a policy in the STUFUP in GAD category as stated in the CHED Memo,โ stated Ms. Quiboyen.
Before the program started, Ms. Cara G. Nalzaro, a BEED third-year student and a mother, shared that she looks forward to gaining and applying insights to her married life as a mother and wife, as well as to her student life.
โImportante sa akoa ni nga program kay as a mother, wife, and student, kinahanglan nako makabalo nga mo-cope up sa gam-onon. Time management gyod nga strategy akong need, especially if naay exam then need i-prioritize ang akong anak, ma-biyaan ang academics.โ
Speakers and Topics
Ms. Alma M. Guibangguibang discussed โMaintaining Emotional and Mental Well-being: Coping Mechanisms and Support Systems for Managing Stress and Emotional Challenges as Student Couples.โ
Ms. Keszia Lorene S. Hechanova, the Campus Guidance Counselor, discussed โBalancing Academic Responsibilities and Family Life: Strategies for Maintaining Time, Setting Priorities, and Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance.โ
Dr. Gemarie E. Baquiller, the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Services, delivered her talk on โEffective Communication and Conflict Resolution in Relationships: Practical Tips on Navigating Disagreements and Strengthening Relationships through Open and Respectful Communication.โ
Ms. Corazon Tabiliran, a BSBA second-year student and a mother of three, shared her experiences in coping with stress using an emotion-focused strategy. She is also grateful for the seminar workshop for introducing her to new coping strategies.
